“Asarel”
Concept for protecting a concrete industrial structure against water ingress.
A task beyond sludge that shows how we approach an unusual problem in a heavy industrial setting: first understand where the water comes from, then choose a solution.
The approach
- The structure was analysed as a whole, not just the leak points. Vertical joints every 6 metres along the full length make spot sealing pointless.
- A full protective lining of the vaulted section was proposed, covering all the joints at once.
- An assessment of the solution was sought from industrial protective coating specialists.
Why it matters
- The task is not standard and has no catalogue answer. It requires understanding how the structure behaves rather than picking a product from a list.
- It is the same approach we take with sludge: first understand what is happening, then choose the solution.
